Keith Takacs
Keith is our newest trainer at K9 Country Club & Training Academy. While from Texas, he recently moved back to Texas after living in the Washington D.C. area. His professional background includes law enforcement (various assignments), military (U.S. Navy, honorably discharged), and intelligence administration.
He and his wife live in Texas Hill Country, Pipe Creek, and currently own/train/trial four German Shepherd Dogs (GSDs) – the breed he grew up with and has owned for over 25 years. While working and training his numerous GSDs over the years, he has keen appreciation that not all dogs work alike and not all dogs are intended to do any one particular sport – regardless of breed. These experiences inspire Keith’s structured obedience approach to training, based on the foundations of sport of Schutzund/IPO training styles and competitive obedience. Keith has successfully titled and trained dogs for competition in Schutzhund/IPO, conformation, nose/scent work trials, dock diving trials and numerous AKC / UKC events. His dogs past and present hold numerous prestigious titles, honors, and accomplishments.
Keith is a member of: the German Shepherd Dog Club of America (GSDCA), United Schutzhund Club of America (USCA), American Kennel Club (AKC), United Kennel Club (UKC), AKC North America Diving Dogs (NADD), National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW) and more. Additionally, Keith is the Vice President of the Lobo Loco Working Dog Club (recognized by USCA) and volunteers his time with the Nose 2 Odor (N2O) Scent Work Training Group – which he co-founded with his nosework colleagues in D.C.
