Emily Pourroy, IACP-DTFC, CPDT-KA

Emily Pourroy instructs classes and lessons in all levels of obedience and manners, puppy socialization and training, trick training, behavior modification, scent work, and barn hunt. She is also an AKC-Approved Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, and conducts all levels of AKC Canine Good Citizen, S.T.A.R Puppy, and Trick Dog classes and evaluations. She believes in making training fun for both dog and owner!

Emily loves working with all dogs, but her passion lies in behavior modification and training for fearful and reactive dogs. Her training approach involves meeting each dog where they are, adjusting the training to fit their needs, and helping them reach their full potential and become the best possible version of themselves. She believes in building and cultivating strong relationships between dog and owner and helping owners understand and better connect with their dogs. She enjoys getting to translate from ‘dog’ to ‘human’!

Emily also loves teaching scent work and believes in making the sport accessible for every dog. Whether it’s a shy dog building confidence through searching, a hyperactive puppy burning energy, a working dog in need of a job, or a dog and handler looking to improve their skills for competition, Emily will adjust her classes and teaching to fit them all. Emily’s students love her classes and take the skills they learn with them as they move into all levels of competition!

With her own dogs – Pit Bull Terriers, Glory and Lucy – Emily enjoys training in scent work, barn hunt, agility, dock diving, trick training, and more. Glory is an accomplished scent work and barn hunt competitor, boasting many titles behind her name and competing at high levels in both sports. She also assists Emily in teaching social skills to dogs who lack them. Lucy is Emily’s up-and-comer who is starting to make her exciting debut in sports and already making a splash! She has experience working with dogs of all breeds, ages, personalities and learning styles. When she’s not training, Emily spends time continuing her education, regularly attending seminars and classes to stay up-to-date on the latest in training and behavior topics.
